This walk makes use of some of the many grassy rides through the woods of the National Trust Ashridge Estate. The woods have lots to offer in all seasons and there is a good chance of seeing some of the fallow deer that roam the woods, especially from autumn through spring. The walk includes a close up view of the Ashridge House “the largest of the romantic palaces near London” as well as a variety of 20th Century houses designed for those who could afford them, many in somewhat idiosyncratic styles. And there is refreshment opportunity at about half way and again at the end. Suggested Maps It is recommended you take a map with you when following a walk route. The preferred scale is 1:25000 used by the Explorer series.
Note : If two maps are listed at the same scale then either (a) both are required for full coverage of the route or (b) the route is covered on both maps.
