Walk Route Description

To start the walk from Faringdon town centre, walk up Marlborough Street (with Budgens on the left) and at the roundabout turn left along Station Road (with a brown sign to "White Horse") which soon becomes Park Road. After about 400 metres - at a sign for Rogers Concrete - turn right and walk up the lane until you reach the A420.
1 - Cross the A420 with care. Follow the path and go straight across the junction, up the hill towards Moorhill Farm (signposted).
2 - The track goes downhill to another junction. At this junction a short cut (signposted) may be taken by turning right and continuing until you reach the Faringdon to Fernham road. Bear left into the trees then fork right soon after and follow the path uphill. Continue along the track with woodland on the right hand side.
3 - The full walk continues along the track about 400m, but cuts right before reaching South Farm House, over a low fence (not signed) and diagonally across a field. Walk diagonally across two fields towards Fernham until you reach a stile onto a lane at the outskirts of the village. As you approach the road, identify the Circular Path sign on your right which indicates Faringdon 2.5 miles. At this point you could take a short detour to look around Fernham. There are seats on the village green and the Woodman Public House for food and refreshment.
4 - After looking round Fernham, return to the Circular Path sign and cross the stile, following the path up to the next stile and on along the edge of Celia's Coppice. Look back for a good view of White Horse Hill. Continue through a conifer plantation and pass Ringdale Manor on your left. Follow the track until you reach a junction signed Circular Walk and bridleway in both directions.
5 - Turn left and keep straight on until you meet the road.
6 - At the road turn right towards Little Coxwell. Turn left into the village. Walk into the village until you see a row of thatched cottages on the right. Just before the first cottage, take a footpath which leads to the church. Follow the path past the church, through a kissing gate, until you reach another stile (signed Little Coxwell .25, Bridleway). Turn right up to the road and right again and go along the road for 200m. Look out for the Bridleway sign on the left.
7 - Turn left onto the bridleway. Follow this track to the first junction, take a left turn towards the A420 crossing it with care and return to your starting point.
